Cofco International Terminal (“DSSK”, Mykolaiv)

Cofco International Terminal (“DSSK”, Mykolaiv)

Description

LLC “Danube Shipping and Stevedoring Company” (DSSK) is part of the structure of the Chinese grain corporation COFCO International. The transshipment complex in Mykolaiv is one of the largest projects invested in the Ukrainian economy by this Chinese company. The design capacity of the COFCO International terminal in Mykolaiv is 2.5 million tons per year, with storage capacity of 140 thousand tons.

What was done

The terminal implemented the innovative S-Engineering technology SENUMAC for optimising the handling of bulk materials.
Thanks to S-Engineering technologies, the COFCO International marine terminal in Mykolaiv has been transshipping 1.5 times more grain annually than its design capacity for several consecutive years (2020–2021).
S-Engineering also performed a significant part of the terminal construction works. Our specialists designed and implemented the power supply systems, automation systems, lightning protection, grounding and lighting systems.

A full scope of work was carried out for automated control systems, including design, software development, and implementation of a motor control system. The following projects were also completed:

  • adjustment of operation logic for the aspiration units of the railway unloading system;
  • modification of conveyor 8B routes;
  • modification of dryer routing;
  • manufacturing, supply of equipment and full implementation of backup and protection systems for the process automation system.

Results

Thanks to S-Engineering technologies, the COFCO International marine terminal in Mykolaiv has been transshipping 1.5 times more grain annually than its design capacity for several consecutive years (2020–2021). Consideration and implementation of the unique SENUMAC technology by S-Engineering at the design stage helps reduce capital expenditures of the investment project. This allows the customer to select equipment based on its maximum performance rather than choosing a more capital-intensive option with excess capacity, as in traditional solutions.
